Our Whee Read Summer Literacy program is a Duke Endowment funded initiative that operates during the summer as a tool to help children reach important literacy levels. The program runs for several weeks and relies on paid teachers as well as community volunteers to read with the kids. Research shows how important it is for a child to reach certain reading milestones as a way of setting them up for long term success. We are grateful to be a part of this work.
