Starship
CALLING ALL KIDS FOR STARSHIP!!
STARSHIP is a program at Cullowhee United Methodist Church for elementary children in K-5. It gives children an opportunity to learn to praise God by shining like stars through music and drama. The purpose of this program is to give every interested child the experience of learning and performing and to develop a positive self esteem and pride in a job well done.
This program is free to the members of the church, their friends, and all interested children in the community.
Penny Graham directs the musical/drama aspects of the program and is assisted by Marietta Cloud on piano. Contact Penny Graham, 586-5646.
From time to time we will share our music and skits on Sunday mornings during the 11:00 Worship service. We will begin our year with some songs we learned in Bible school and some new ones too. Bring your child to the sanctuary at Cullowhee Methodist Church on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 – 6:45. Starship resumes Wed. September 9, 2009.

Vacation Bible School 2010
VBS 2010 is set for Sun., June 27 through Thursday, July 1 which will be a joint VBS with Cullowhee Baptist, El Centro del Señor and the Summit Church, held at CUMC. The VBS committee has been busy planning and would like people to mark their calendars. Plan VBS 2010 in your summer schedule as it promises to be GREAT! The VBS curriculum is Egypt Joseph’s Journey from prison to palace.
At Egypt, everyone gets to explore firsthand the culture of Joseph’s world. You’ll experience- right along side Joseph- the heart-breaking trials, joyous victories, and tear-filled celebrations of this unique Bible hero. God’s Word comes alive as families enjoy traditional Bible-times customs, occupations, food, and even games! Be on the look out for more information about how you can be involved in this journey of a lifetime!
Cradle Ministry is a ministry that shares with the family the congregation’s joy of the birth of a new baby and, again, when the infant is baptized into the church community. After the birth of the infant, a rose is put on the altar the following Sunday in honor of the newborn. The Care Team Leader will contact the family about bringing meals during the first week that the infant is home. Contact: Sandy Railsback, 293-5624.
CUMC Nursery is staffed by four adult paid attendants and three volunteers on Sunday mornings from 8:45 – 12:15 to provide a stimulating, stable environment for our infant to toddler age groups. There are also volunteers and paid attendants who care for the pre-school children during the worship service. Contact: Bonnie Stephens, 293-1154.
Children’s Message occurs during the worship service with adults sharing their faith with children in a five-minute lesson. Contact the church office, 293-9215.
Children’s Church is a special worship opportunity for children in grades K-3 held during the last half of the regular worship service. During this time, children may enjoy special stories, crafts, music, prayer time, unique worship experiences, object lessons and, from time to time, dance. Contact: Sandy Railsback.
