PURPOSE of United Methodist Women: The organized unit of UNITED METHODIST WOMEN shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Any woman age 18 or over is invited to be a member of United Methodist Women. The Morning Circle meets on the third Wed. of the month, 10:00 a..m. in the church fellowship hall for brunch and a program, and there are general meetings in the evenings several times during the year. Cullowhee UMW sponsors a “Chicken Feed” luncheon annually; proceeds go to missions locally and globally.

On going projects: Collecting paperback books for women inmates in the Jackson County Jail.

Many of the women are avid readers and would love to read used books. You may leave books at the church, and they will be taken to the jail. No hardbacks please. They are not allowed.

Easy oven tips to save energy:

- Don’t preheat - unless you’re baking cakes or pastries, it’s

usually unnecessary

- Don’t open the door during baking. Every time you open the

door, the temperature inside drops about 25 degrees. Use the

window in the door to check on the food.

- Turn off the oven several minutes before the recommended

cooking time. The heat retained inside should finish the job fine.

- Open the oven when you’re done and let it warm your kitchen.
