Service Opportunities
Nailbenders is a group of men and women who gather to assist neighbors with special needs. The Jackson County on Aging calls on them to build wheelchair ramps. The Nailbenders are also involved in the new “Step by Step” ministry of the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. Their projects often involve construction, but you don’t need any special skills to participate. If you would like to be a part of Nailbenders contact David Reeves or the church office.
Hammer Jammers is a group of women who go to Camp Tekoa (United Methodist Church Camp in Hendersonville, NC) to perform service projects ranging from raking leaves to framing a cabin at the camp. For more information contact the church office.
Our church’s contribution to United Christian Ministries is dependent upon the money that worshipers leave at the communion rail. Current needs diapers, dish detergent and laundry detergent. Please call 586-8228 to donate items.
UMAR is the United Methodist agency which supports adults with developmental disabilities. They do this by helping them live on their own with support in a UMAR home. They need your help. Please mark checks UMAR.
Our church is looking for a few good drivers who would be willing to get a commercial drivers license so you can drive our bus. We really need you. At present, we only have three licensed drivers. If you are interested, please contact David at 293-9215. Don’t make us come get you!
We are looking for a few good visitors as well: people who are willing to stop by the home of the house-bound to deliver a CD of our services. If you are interested, please contact David Reeves at 293-9215 or 508-5603.
