Playground Enrichment Project

Project Update

Cullowhee United Methodist Church has embarked upon a project to enrich the existing playground with more substantial and developmentally appropriate equipment.   In December 20122 we received a large grant from the Duke Endowment that allowed us to purchase the Augusta Climber that the teachers from Cullowhee Kids had decided would be the best fit for the facility.  In February 2012 the large piece of equipment was installed on the main playground.  From the moment it was in the ground, the kids have enjoyed playing on it daily.  It has 7 slides and lots of climbing features and keeps the children busy and active and they can all play on the equipment at one time!

There is still some finishing work to be done on the large playground and when the preschool breaks for summer vacation, there will be some sod laid and final improvements made.

Our playground is a visible display of the value that we place on Children and Families at Cullowhee United Methodist Church.  It is also a gateway for people to come and learn more about our community of faith.

We are very close to meeting our financial goal on this project.  We look forward to completing the project by July 2012.  Thank you so much for your support on this important project!
