Rakes, Pitchforks, & Wheelbarrows Needed!!!

On Tuesday morning, Feb. 7, we will try to finish up the area around our new playground equipment. We need to move 40 cubic yards of new wood chips so that the kids can use the equipment. Many hands make light work.

If you can help at 9 am Tuesday morning, please respond to this email. We will give you some hot coffee, stale donuts, and eternal gratitude. (Actually, we’ll give you a good donut.)

The Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry (on the 2^nd floor of the new section of this church) will provide a “Kids Night Out” for children of all ages. This is the first one of the semester!   This event will help raise money for their mission trip in May.  It’s a “win-win” situation!

What: Age Appropriate Fun and Games! (Macaroni and Cheese, apple slices, juice or milk, and a snack will be provided. You may drop your child off with supper/snacks if you don’t want them to have the provided options.)

When you drop off your child(ren) you will be aksed to fill out a short form with dietary and other important information.

When: Friday, February 10, 5:30pm – 10:00pm

Where: The Wesley Foundation (Upstairs from Cullowhee Kids in Cullowhee UMC)

Who: Children of all ages will be entertained in developmentally and age appropriate groups and kept safe by college students who are members of the Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry.  Older children will have the opportunity to be a helper if they choose.

How Much: This is a fundraiser so – Generous Donations accepted (that’s at least what you would pay a sitter at your home or more).

The Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry at Western Carolina University is collecting playable but unwanted DVD’s,  CD’s, and Video Games (not cassette tapes or VHS tapes) of all genres. These will be used for a fundraiser to support their mission trip in May to Good Works, Inc. in Athens, Ohio.   The group will hold a CD and DVD Sale in late March on the campus of Western Carolina University.  Last year the grouped earned over $600 to go towards their international mission trip by doing the same thing.

Please bring unwanted CD’s, DVD’s, and Video Game cartridges that are gently used or better to the collection box in the church office.  The collection process will begin February 1st and conclude on March 4th.  Please contact, Jay Hinton at 828-368-4234 or (Jay’s email) if you have any questions.

WHEE Wednesday Dinner

The BEST MEAL IN TOWN is at Cullowhee UMC on Wednesday nights. Come and join your church family for a great home-cooked dinner and we’ll even do the clean up! Dinner starts at 5:15 but we keep serving until 6:00 to accommodate everyone’s schedule. Not only will you enjoy the fellowship of our Wednesday Night Dinner, the profits from the meals are used to help upgrade our church kitchen or in support of community programs.

Dinner reservations can be made on Sunday morning using the pew pocket slips or by emailing the church office. You can also make a standing reservation.

The suggested Free Will Offering to cover the cost of dinner is $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for children through age 12, and $15.00 Max per family.

We offer great support for those who cook our Wednesday night meals. If you are interested in cooking a WHEE Wednesday dinner contact Sherrie Schork at for all the details.

Kid’s Konnection for Grades K-5

Our Children’s Wednesday Night Program is ALL NEW this year with the introduction of Kid’s Konnection. LED BY Penny Graham and Christin Wilson, children will learn what it means to connect as friends, connect to their church, and connect to God.

Each week children hear a brief Bible story supported by a variation of games, snacks, crafts, music, science projects, and outreach opportunities.

CUMC knows how busy our families are, and has designed Kid’s Konnection as a way for children to have a fun and creative experience on each Wednesday evening while developing a faith “Konnection” that helps them throughout the week.

YOUTH BREAK

If you’re in 6^th-10^th grade and need a mid-week break from all the homework, school and other activities, or just the constant busy schedule of Middle and High School…you may need YOUTH BREAK.

Join Molly Leikam in the Youth Suite for a break from the regular weekly routine. We’ll be showing movies, playing games, talking about our week, and even providing a place to work on homework. We meet from 6:00-7:00 followed by Math Tutoring by Julie Barnes for those who need a little extra help with the numbers.

Adult Bible Study with David and Sherrie 6-7:00 p.m.

Join Sherrie Schork to discuss Rueben Job’s latest study that brings new insight on how to live a Christ-like life and explore the three most basic questions at the heart of our faith: “Who is God,” “Who am I in relation to God,” and “Who are we together as Christians and as God’s human family.” Jesus faced and answered these questions, and then taught and lived the answers. As followers of Jesus it is up to us to answer the same profound questions for ourselves and live the answers for our time.  Together we will begin the discovery of what it means to know and follow the God of love, hope and purpose.
