SOUL LIFE ADULT STUDY starting September 15 on WHEE Weds.

Join David Reeves and Sherrie Schork in a seven-week study of classic spiritual practices of Jesus and the church through SOUL LIFE. A study centered upon the life God desire’s to give us. It is the life that Jesus described in John 10:10 when he said “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” God desires to give each of us this full, abundant life of peace, joy and balance. He gives us this life as we open ourselves to His work in our lives through “soul practices.”  By searching the Biblical practices that have guided the lives of faith filled disciples throughout the centuries we too can begin to move toward a richer spiritual life.

 Our first meeting will include choosing a table group to join. Our table hosts are Gene and Betty Tweedy, Melissa and Tom Johnson, Susan Fouts, and Kathy Wooten. They will help members around each table get to know each other better and join in “table discussions” around the lesson each night. Participants will also be given a SOUL LIFE Journal to help members incorporate six “Soul Practices” into their lives.

 Come and be part of the discussion of how God can transform our lives through soul practices as we discover SOUL LIFE together.

The Back to School Project with the Jackson County Department of Social Services helps provide school supplies to the children in Jackson County.  Last year, the joy and satisfaction in the children’s eyes when they saw their new shoes, book bags and school supplies was priceless.  Please make a difference in a child’s life by making a donation to CUMC and marking it “Back to School.”

The produce is being grown for the Community Table.  What the Community Table cannot use, the excess is going to local restaurants.  Recently volunteers harvested green peppers, corn, tomatoes, Italian zucchini, peas, beans and butternut squash.  Harvestors can make donations for produce they can use. Check out the pictures below.  Volunteers are shelling black eye peas. 

190 people from the Cullowhee UMC family donated their time on Sat. June 5 to IMPACT our Community in Jackson County.  Volunteers built ramps, porches and steps; children visited nursing homes and washed wheelchairs; youth delivered 2001 diapers and worked at United Chrisitan Ministries; youth and adults split wood for our senior citizens to be used for next winter; volunteers  made items for nursing residents, made lunches for the volunteers and baked cookies for community helpers.  At the end of the day, we celebrated with a barbecue.  Check out the video below.
