Middle School Youth group is for 6th-8th grades. High School Youth group is for youth in 9th-12th grades. Any youth in the community are welcome to attend and do not need to be a member of Cullowhee UMC. We encourage the youth to invite friends. Scarlette Pless and Alena Strahan lead the middle school, and Julia Trantham, Paul Heckert and Ryan Pless lead the high school.

During the school year, both groups meet regularly on Sundays from 4-6 p.m. for activities and service work.  Occasionally, they have special activities, and they may meet earlier on Sunday.  In the summer, a mission trip is usually planned.  This past summer the high school group went to Lumberton, NC and the middle school students went to Charleston, WV working at homeless shelters and soup kitchens.

Another yearly activity is backpacking on the Appalachian Trail through Wilderness Trail camp near Troutville, Virginia. Many of the youth come back saying the experience was life changing.
